3 children among injured in head-on crash in California’s Delta that kills driver
One person was killed and four people were critically hurt in a head-on crash Sunday on Highway 160 near Sherman Island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.
A California Highway Patrol helicopter and firefighters from Solano and Sacramento counties responded to the crash about 10:20 p.m., just north of the Antioch Bridge, according to the CHP.
CHP South Sacramento spokesman Officer Mark Leavitt said that a Mazda crossed lanes and struck an Audi. The driver of the Audi, the sole occupant, suffered major injuries.
The driver of the Mazda died at the scene and three children that were in the car were injured. The relationship between the driver and the kids have not been confirmed yet.
Leavitt said officers investigating the crash believed alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
