68-year-old Roseville man suspected of DUI killed in Placer County crash, CHP says

Roadway fatality

A Roseville man suspected of drunk driving was killed in a head-on crash Friday night near Antelope, California Highway Patrol officials said.

A white 1999 Chevrolet Corvette was heading south on Walerga Road near Town Center Avenue shortly before 11 p.m. when it traveled over a center divider and into oncoming northbound traffic, the CHP’s Auburn office said in a Monday news release.

The Corvette struck a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu, and the front end of the Malibu collided with the passenger side of the Corvette, according to the CHP news release.

The driver of the Corvette, a 68-year-old Roseville man, was ejected from the vehicle, leading to fatal injuries, CHP officials wrote. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Malibu, a 31-year-old Roseville man, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, the CHP said. He was wearing a seat belt, according to the collision report.

Identification of the deceased driver will be handled by the Placer County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family. The CHP said that after an initial investigation, he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
