Napa County officials release names of Placer County men who died in aircraft crash
Authorities released the names of two Placer County men who died in a fiery crash Sunday morning after their powered hang glider crashed near Pope Valley in Napa County.
Scott Killian, 61, of Roseville and Dreyson Hicks, 22, of Rocklin died in the crash, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday in a news release.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the aircraft crash, which involved a Evolution Revolt Weight Shift Control Trike aircraft with three wheels and two seats.
The Sheriff’s Office said Killian was the pilot on the powered hang glider, and Hicks was the passenger.
Cal Fire and Napa County firefighters were called Sunday to the scene near the Berryessa Estates neighborhood. The aircraft crash sparked a vegetation fire that burned about 1 acre before firefighters contained the blaze, according to the Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit.
Authorities found the crashed aircraft within the fire perimeter, Cal Fire said.
