Fire tears through Rancho Cordova apartment complex, with multiple units destroyed

An early-morning fire destroyed three apartment units, displaced 11 people and left one person suffering from smoke inhalation in Rancho Cordova, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire reported.

About 4:12 a.m. Sunday, crews responded to a multi-alarm fire that broke out on a balcony of the Bishop’s Court Apartments on the crossroads of Data Drive and Capital Center Drive, fire officials said.

The fire damaged eight other units, officials said.

The cause is still being investigated.
