Two people were killed Sunday after a multi-car crash in Arden Arcade, near the Cal Expo race track.

Five vehicles were involved in the incident about 9:30 a.m. at Hallmark Drive and Howe Avenue, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District reported.

There was “major damage to several vehicles and a utility pole. 4 patients were transported by ambulance, and 3 patients were released at scene,” the agency said in an update posted on Twitter at 11:23 a.m.

No additional details, including what led up to the crash, were available. Metro Fire said the California Highway Patrol was handling the investigation.
