Sacramento woman, 54, biking on Power Inn Road dies in crash with vehicle, CHP says

Roadway fatality

A bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle Thursday evening on Power Inn Road in south Sacramento, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The victim, described by authorities as a 54-year-old Sacramento woman, was riding on southbound Power Inn Road near Creeping Willow Lane shortly before 5:30 p.m. when she was struck by a Chevrolet driven by a 29-year-old Citrus Heights man, the CHP’s South Sacramento office said in a news release.

The collision sent the bicyclist into a drainage ditch on the right-hand side of Power Inn Road, CHP officials said.

Sacramento Fire Department personnel transported the woman to a hospital, where she died of her injuries. Her identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.

The Chevrolet driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to the news release. Drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash, the CHP said.
