Woman, 60, identified as person killed after being hit by a car Thursday in Elk Grove

Pedestrian fatality

A woman who died Thursday after being hit by a car in Elk Grove has been identified.

Insuk Lancaster, 60, died in the incident on Sheldon Road, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Lancaster was walking in the road about 9:20 p.m., between Waterman and Bradshaw roads, when she was struck by a Lexus, authorities said.

Investigators did not believe speed, drugs or alcohol were a factor, according to an Elk Grove Police Department Facebook post. The vehicle was likely traveling at or below the posted speed limit.

It’s unclear whether the woman was homeless. At least 13 homeless people have died after being hit by vehicles so far this year, according to coroner data.
