An 84-year-old Sacramento County woman who went missing after driving to Granite Bay to tend to her horses has been found dead, according to authorities.

The body of Alice Kroese, who was reported missing Dec. 28, was discovered inside her silver 2017 Subaru Outback on Friday in Butte County. No foul play is suspected, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Amar Gandhi, but no other information was provided.

Kroese reportedly left her Carmichael home at 10 a.m. Wednesday and was expected to return about 1 p.m. after driving to Granite Bay to care for her horses. When she did not return home, her family alerted authorities.

The California Highway Patrol issued a silver alert on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office on Friday afternoon. The alert was active in Sacramento, Placer and El Dorado counties.
