A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday on Stockton Boulevard in south Sacramento, police said.

Officers responded around 6 p.m. to reports of an injured pedestrian down in the roadway near Stockton Boulevard and 14th Avenue, Sacramento Police Department spokesman Officer Chad Lewis said.

The pedestrian — identified as Hattie Louise Anderson, 73, of Sacramento — had serious injuries consistent with a vehicle collision, Lewis said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The involved driver was contacted at the scene and is cooperating with the Police Department’s investigation, Lewis said.

Stockton Boulevard was closed between 14th and 17th avenues for a few hours Tuesday evening while police investigated the incident. The roadway has since reopened.
