Could Sacramento hit 80 degrees again soon? Here’s when it happened in the past 6 years
Rain continues to drench Northern California and Sacramentans are chilled to the bone, with temperatures ranging from the low 40s to low 60s more than a week into the official start of spring.
The Golden State has benefited significantly from the generous rainfall this year, but are warmer days coming?
On average, Sacramento hits 80 degrees or higher on April 4, according to the National Weather Service. Here’s what is expected this year:
When will Sacramento heat up?
As we close the month of March and head into April, 80-degree temperatures still remain very unlikely, said Cory Mueller, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
We don’t entirely know when Sacramento will hit 80 degrees for the first time in 2023, but in the past it has happened as early as February or as late as May.
In 1896 and 1902, the city didn’t see 80-degree temperatures until May 24.
Over the last five years, Sacramento has continuously seen at least 80-degree temperatures in March.

- April 14, 2017
In 1899, the golden state capital saw 80-degree weather on Feb. 18, making it the earliest recorded 80-plus degree day for Sacramento.
