Union Pacific train strikes, kills pedestrian near Florin Road in south Sacramento

A pedestrian was struck and killed by train in south Sacramento on Saturday.

About 8:30 a.m., a Union Pacific train struck the pedestrian near Florin Road and McComber Street, according to Chad Leahy, a spokesman for the railroad.

Members of the train crew were not injured, Leahy said. Leahy said the company is investigating the incident.

It was the third incident of a train striking a pedestrian in less than a month.

On June 4, a man was hit by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train in midtown. He was hospitalized with injuries not considered life-threatening. On May 27, a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a Union Pacific train at Roseville Road and Marconi Avenue in the city’s northeast corridor.
