With July 4 approaching, it might be tempting to shoot off fireworks from your Sacramento home. But before you let your rockets burst, make sure you’re not breaking the law.

The city and county have several rules on fireworks to keep people safe and prevent fires. In Sacramento County, if you’re found violating these regulations, you’ll be fined.

For the first violation, it starts at $1,000. Then, it will increase to $2,500 for the second violation within one year of the first time and $5,000 for each additional violation. It’s a $10,000 fine for each violation that happens within the American River Parkway.
