How long will lane split along Highway 50 in Sacramento last? Here’s the latest timeline

Traffic Alert

If you frequent the W-X portion of Highway 50, be prepared for congested traffic at least for the remainder of the summer, Caltrans said.

In June, the department split the westbound lanes of the Capital City’s W-X freeway after the 26th Street exit. According to a July construction update, the split is active possibly through early September.

What it means

Stay alert, follow signs and prepare for traffic delays, Caltrans said.

The speed limit in a work zone is 55 mph at all times.

What you should do

Use the two left lanes to stay westbound towards Davis.

Remember: Only the far right lanes allow drivers to exit 16th and 10th Street as well as northbound or southbound Interstate 5.

The $433 million project will rehabilitate the highway pavement, improve drainage, add lighting and other enchantments.

The Fix50 project is slated to be completed between December 2024 and early 2025.
