If you’ve been feeling like Sacramento has been getting hotter — you’re right, it has.

Over the last decade, Sacramento Executive Airport reached temperatures of 105 on more days than any other decade in the last 50 years, according to data from the National Centers for Environmental Information.

The region is under an excessive heat warning through Sunday evening, as temperatures in Sacramento are expected to near 110 degrees this weekend.

“Temperatures throughout the state have risen almost 3 degrees since the beginning of the 20th century,” according to the state climate 2022 summaries report from the environmental information center.

The six warmest years in California have all happened in the past decade, according to NOAA.

Sacramento weekend temperatures

An ‘excessive heat warning’ will be in effect through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The triple-digit temperatures will remain in the Sacramento area until Monday, according to the weather service five-day-forecast.

Come Tuesday, temperatures will still be hot, but won’t reach triple digits. Highs are expected to reach 98 degrees.
