LA-based dessert shop opens first shop in Northern California. What’s on the menu?

What's opening in the Sacramento area

The Sacramento-area just made room for another dessert destination — and this one is known for its unique ice cream and waffle combinations.

The Dolly Llama, a Los Angeles-based ice cream shop, opened its first Northern California location over the weekend in Elk Grove. The grand opening comes months after the franchise announced its plans for the site in the Raley’s Center of Elk Grove at 4900 Elk Grove Blvd.

According to previous Bee reporting, a second Sacramento-are location is planned for the Delta Shores shopping center in the community of Meadowview.

The franchise has 14 stores spread across the U.S. including in Texas, Florida, Utah and New York. Shops recently opened in St. Augustine, Florida, and American Fork, Utah, according to an announcement on The Dolly Llama’s Instagram page.

The dessert shop wasn’t immediately available for comment.

Childhood friends Eric Shomof and Samuel Baroux founded The Dolly Llama in 2017. The name of the shop is a play on “fun llama spirit,” the franchise wrote on its website.
