Motorcyclist killed in collision with truck at busy Citrus Heights intersection

A motorcyclist was killed Monday morning after a collision with a truck at a busy Citrus Heights intersection.

Dispatchers received several 911 calls at around 11:08 a.m. regarding a crash near the intersection of Greenback Lane and Sunrise Boulevard, the Citrus Heights Police Department announced in a news release.

Police officers found the truck and motorcycle with “significant damage” upon arriving at the scene on Greenback Lane, according to officers.

The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital where they were pronounced dead. The truck driver and passenger were uninjured and were cooperating with the investigation, police said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the motorcyclist Wednesday morning as Mathew Hubbard, 50.

All westbound lanes of Greenback Lane were closed for several hours at Arcadia Drive as the Citrus Heights Police Traffic Unit investigated the crash.

Alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors in the collision, according to the release.
