Sacramento County coroner officials were investigating the death for a 42-year-old man whose body was found Thursday morning in the American River in Sacramento.

Ryann Thomas Miller was the man who was found dead in the American River near the Watt Avenue boat ramp, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. His city of residence was not available.

About 9 a.m., a passerby near the Watt Avenue bridge spotted Miller’s body in the river and reported it to authorities, said Capt. Justin Sylvia, a spokesman for the Sacramento Fire Department.

Coroner Rosa Vega said Friday that Miller’s cause and manner of death were still pending. She said coroner officials still need to perform a toxicology and other ancillary tests before determining what might have led to his death.

Sylvia said crews responded and recovered the man’s body from the river. There were no further details available.
