Love cats? You can book a Garfield movie-themed motel room in Sacramento for a limited time
Love Garfield? For a limited time, you can snooze in a themed motel room in the Sacramento area inspired by the fictional feline.
Motel 6, 3796 Northgate Blvd. in South Natomas, is one of 11 locations across the U.S. that turned rooms into an orange oasis in celebration of “The Garfield Movie,” according to a news release.
The animated movie, which opens in theaters on Friday, stars Chris Pratt, Samuel L. Jackson and Hannah Waddingham. Rapper Snoop Dogg also makes an appearance.
According to Adam Cannon, chief brand officer of G6 Hospitality, the parent company of Motel 6 and Studio 6, the pet-friendly motel chain has “gone to the next level.”
“Garfield is well-known for his appreciation of naps, so he’s an expert when it comes to a comfortable night’s rest,” Cannon said in the release.
“Motel 6 has been welcoming pets for free for more than 60 years and is one of the top reasons guests stay with us. Garfield will help take our love of our four-legged friends to the next level,” he added.
What does ‘Garfield Movie’ room at Sacramento motel look like?
For a limited time, Garfield the orange tabby is the chief pet officer of Motel 6, according to the release.
His ideas include a mandatory nap policy, no-work Mondays, and a hefty supply of lasagna, his favorite meal.
“My first order of business was to design my own ‘Garfield Movie’-themed rooms for all cats to enjoy,” Garfield said in the release.
A total of 11 Motel 6 locations across the United States have transformed rooms ahead of the movie’s release. Those include motels in Carson and Los Angeles.
The Garfield Movie Suite at Hollywood Motel 6 features orange fuzzy walls, a cat-scratching tree and neon signs.
There are noticeable changes at other Motel 6 locations as well.
Neutral bedding in one room was swapped for bright orange comforters, according to Motel 6, and the chain added stuffed animals and framed photos of Garfield.
How can I book a reservation for Garfield-themed room?
There’s one Garfield-themed room at Motel 6 in South Natomas, and it’s available for a total of two months, according to hotel representatives.
The cost of a reservation depends on the day, general manager Maria Estrada told The Sacramento Bee via phone on Wednesday.
“It’s a really cute room,” she said.
Rooms typically cost $100 for one bed and $111 for two beds, a Motel 6 representative said.
Pets stay for free, the release stated.
Reservations can be booked over the phone at 916-927-7117. Estrada said the room can be reserved online after the movie hits theaters.
Outside of California, participating Motel 6 locations are in Seaside, Oregon; Rexburg, Idaho; Corpus Christi, Texas, and Sandusky, Ohio. Anderson, Indiana.
Motel 6 locations in Anderson, Indiana; Biloxi, Mississipi; and Gordonville, Pennsylvania; also have Garfield-themed rooms.
