Authorities stopped the progress of a vegetation fire that prompted mandatory evacuation orders Tuesday in Northern California’s Lake County.

Cal Fire said an approximately 4-acre blaze, called the Harbor Fire, had a “rapid rate of spread” in Kelseyville, near Clear Lake. The fire was burning uphill, Cal Fire said in social media posts just before 5 p.m.

Evacuations were ordered for zone KEL-E146, according to Cal Fire and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Zones KEL-E134 and KEL-E152 were under evacuation warnings as of 5 p.m.

A temporary evacuation point was set up at Twin Pine Casino and Hotel in Middletown, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Harbor Fire is burning just several miles west of the city of Clearlake, where the Boyles Fire that ignited Sunday has destroyed structures.

Kelseyville has a population of about 3,400.
