Pig’s head left on doorstep prompts Sacramento police to investigate potential hate crime

Police tape at crime scene

A severed pig’s head left overnight this past weekend on the doorstep of a home in Sacramento’s Creekside neighborhood prompted police officers to launch an investigation into a potential hate crime.

Officers were called about 7:30 a.m. Monday to the area of North Park Drive and Naponee Court for a call from the homeowner about the severed pig’s head. The area borders Natomas Middle School and H. Allen Hight Elementary School.

“It is being investigated as a potential hate crime as this behavior is abnormal, and to see if there is any bias motivation to it, or not,” said Officer Allison Smith, a spokeswoman for the Sacramento Police Department.

The homeowner interviewed by KCRA 3 said a nail protruded from the pig’s nose by a person who left it Sunday night.
