A 79-year-old woman who suffered serious burn injuries Tuesday after a blaze gutted an Antelope home has died from her wounds, becoming the second victim to die following the raging fire, authorities said.

The woman’s husband was also found dead by firefighters amid flames that tore through a residence in the 7600 block of Tartan Drive. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews were called at 12:23 a.m. to a home “well involved” in fire, said Metro Fire Capt. Mark Nunez, a Metro Fire spokesman.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Lawrence Monroe, 80, and Shirley Wolf, 79, of Antelope.

The fire remains under investigation.

The woman was taken first to Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael before being transferred to the UC Davis Firefighters Burn Institute Regional Burn Center, Nunez said.
