Man riding electric bike dies in Sacramento County collision involving truck, CHP says
A man pedaling an electric bicycle died Thursday in a collision with a truck in Orangevale, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers were alerted about 4:30 p.m. to the collision at Beech and Elm avenues, said Officer Trent Senter, a spokesman with the CHP’s East Sacramento office.
A preliminary investigation showed that a man, riding his electric bicycle south on Beech Avenue approached the intersection with Elm Avenue at the same time as another man driving a Chevrolet pickup who was heading east on Elm. The pickup and the bicycle then collided, Senter said.
The electric bicyclist, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene, Senter said. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim once family has been notified.
No other injuries were reported. Alcohol and drug impairment were ruled out as factors causing the collision, Senter said.
