Pedestrian dies after North Sacramento vehicle collision on Norwood Avenue, police say

A pedestrian struck Wednesday during a vehicle collision in North Sacramento died from his injuries, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Officers were called about 6 p.m. to Bell and Norwood avenues for a collision between a vehicle and a man, said Officer Allison Smith, a Police Department spokeswoman. The collision happened near where the Robla and Glenwood Meadows neighborhoods meet.

The man was taken to a hospital in life-threatening condition and later died from his wounds, Smith said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the man killed as Nelson Lee, 64, of Sacramento.

The driver stayed at the scene, Smith said. Police investigators specializing in vehicle collisions went to the scene to canvass for evidence.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the Police Department at 916-808-5471 or the Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
