Rain, thunderstorms are in the forecast for Sacramento. How long will showers last?

Get your ponchos ready and watch out for puddles, Sacramento.

The capital region is expected to see a series of showers starting Monday, Nov. 11, and continuing through the week, according to the National Weather Service’s latest forecast.

The Sacramento area will receive between a tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain and wind gusts as high as 20 mph on Monday.

National Weather Service meteorologist Nathan Rick said Sacramento will see an uptick in precipitation as a heavier band of rain showers move through.

“We are expecting a whole lot of rain,” Rick told The Sacramento Bee on Monday.

What’s in the weather forecast for Sacramento?

On Monday, Sacramento will have a high temperature around 56 degrees, according to the weather service.

“Some scattered showers” had dropped about two to five hundredths of precipitation in Sacramento as of Monday morning, Rick said.

There was a possibility for thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Monday, which could bring more rain.

Rick said there was potential for up to about a quarter inch of rain by Monday evening.

Skies were expected to clear up Monday night, with a low temperature of 39 degrees and a 10% chance of rain showers and thunderstorms before 7 p.m.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high of 61 degrees and winds of 3 to 6 mph.

Rick said to expect generally drier weather and pretty cool temperatures.

Temperatures will decrease to a low near 40 degrees on a partly cloudy Tuesday night.

When will rain showers return?

Rain will return on Wednesday, when the high will near 60 degrees and the overnight low will be around 46.

Most of the day will be cloudy with a 60% chance of rain mainly after 4 p.m. and winds of 6 to 8 mph. More showers are likely before 10 p.m.

“With that system, we are looking at another quarter, possibly up to a half inch of precipitation through ... Saturday morning,” Rick said.

Thursday brings a 30% chance of rain after 10 a.m., the weather service said.

The remainder of the day will be partly sunny with a high of 62 and a low around 43.

It’ll likely rain Thursday night after 10 p.m.,

The possibility of precipitation persists into Friday, when the high will be 57 and the low will be around 37.

There’s a chance of rain on Friday, mainly before 10 p.m.

Saturday will be sunny with patchy frost and a high near 59, according to the weather service.

The temperature will drop around 35 degrees at night. Some areas could see frost.

There’s a chance of rain on Sunday, but the day is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high near 56.

Rick said Sacramento could see another tenth of an inch or so of rain late in the weekend and early next week.
