Highway 99 back open after six-vehicle crash blocked lanes in south Sacramento, CHP says

Traffic Alert

A six-vehicle crash on Highway 99 blocked three lanes amid afternoon rush hour traffic Thursday in south Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP’s South Sacramento office said on social media there may be “possible minor injuries” for a crash that happened about 4 p.m. on southbound Highway 99, near Mack Road. No other information was immediately available about the cause behind the crash.

One person was transported to the hospital, said Capt. Justin Sylvia, a spokesman with the Sacramento Fire Department. The severity of the person’s injuries was not immediately known.

Southbound traffic on the four-lane highway remained reduced to one lane as of 4:20 p.m., according to the Caltrans website.

The CHP said all lanes reopened about 20 minutes later.
