Between grocery shopping and cooking, the idea of preparing Thanksgiving dinner can seem downright daunting.

Don’t worry: You can still enjoy a turkey dinner and all the fixings without laboring over a hot stove.

Sacramento-area restaurants and shops offer several options for singles, couples and families looking for dine-in, takeout and catered Thanksgiving meals.

Where can I eat out on Thanksgiving in Sacramento area?

Going out to eat? These Sacramento-area restaurants are open for dinner on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28.:

Sheldon Inn Restaurant + Bar

Sheldon Inn Restaurant + Bar, 9000 Grantline Road in Elk Grove, will serve a three-course Thanksgiving meal for $65 per person. The menu includes dinner rolls with butter, butternut squash soup, a salad with pears and pecans and your choice of the following entrees: turkey, prime rib, scallops, pork chop, seared branzino or mushroom risotto. Firehouse Restaurant

Firehouse Restaurant, 1112 Second St. in Sacramento, will serve a three-course meal from 1 to 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day for $89.95 per adult or $34.95 for children 12 and under. The meal starts with a spinach salad with squash, feta cheese and cherry tomatoes. Diners can choose between turkey, fish or pasta for the main course. Dessert options are apple pie, blueberry tart or a vegan blueberry tart. Kids can choose either turkey or fish with a s’mores cupcake for dessert. Il Fornaio

Italian restaurant Il Fornaio, which has locations in downtown Sacramento and Roseville, is serving up a $59 Thanksgiving dinner with squash, potato soup and a salad with walnuts and red grapes. The main course is turkey with stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, baked yams and cranberry sauce. There’s pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert. For kids, 12 and under, dinner is $25. Ruth’s Chris

Ruth’s Chris has two Sacramento-area locations: near Fair Oaks Boulevard and inside the Westfield Galleria Mall in Roseville. The steakhouse is offering Thanksgiving dinner for $50 for adults and $22 for kids. Start with a steakhouse salad, Caesar salad or soup. The entree is sliced oven-roasted turkey, served with sausage-and-herb stuffing, homemade turkey gravy and cranberry relish. Sides are au gratin potatoes, creamed spinach, sweet potato casserole and green beans with garlic. There’s pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Make a reservation online. Holiday hours may vary.

Bennett’s Restaurants

This casual fine dining restaurant has locations in Sacramento, Roseville and Rocklin. On Thanksgiving Day, Bennett’s is dishing out a $33 dinner that includes sliced turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and a dinner roll. A slice of pumpkin pie with whipped cream is an extra $8. Reserve a table online. Holiday hours may vary.

The 7th St. Standard

Head to The 7th St. Standard, 1122 Seventh St. in Sacramento, for a $40 holiday feast featuring a slow-roasted turkey breast with sourdough stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberry sauce. Shareable sides range from $8 to $10 and include a green bean casserole. Dessert options are a $13 pumpkin cream puff or apple pie with oat streusel and vanilla gelato. Reservations should be made online. The restaurant is open 4 to 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Chevys Fresh Mex

Chevys, which has multiple locations in the Sacramento area, will offer a three-course Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The meal includes a salad, roasted turkey with mole sauce, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and pumpkin pie. Prices range from $35 for adults to $12 for children. Reservations should be made online or over the phone.

Where can I get takeout Thanksgiving dinners?

Here some of the local restaurants and grocery stores offering catered meals on or around Thanksgiving Day:

Urban Roots

Urban Roots, 1322 V St. in Sacramento, offers a Thanksgiving feast with turkey, ham and cornbread stuffing that feeds 10 to 12 people for $255. Place your order by Nov. 25 and pick up on Nov. 28 between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Sellands Market

Sellands Market’s Thanksgiving meal serves four people for $275. It includes turkey breast, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, cranberry sauce and half a dozen brioche rolls, plus your choice of pumpkin or apple pie. The supermarket chain has three Sacramento-area locations. Orders must be made by Nov. 18 and picked up Nov. 27.

Safeway

Safeway has Thanksgiving dinners starting at $69 that feed six to eight people. You get a whole, cooked 10- to 12-pound turkey, mashed potatoes, home-style stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce. Contact your local store for more information.

Nugget Markets

Nugget Markets, which has multiple locations in the Sacramento area, has holiday dinner deals that start out at $169 and feeds four to six people. For the main course, choose from turkey, ham and roast along with an assortment of side dishes. Contact your local store for more information.

Corti Brothers

Corti Brothers, 5810 Folsom Blvd. in Sacramento, has a holiday menu featuring Thanksgiving staples available to order and for pickup on Nov. 26 and 27. Prices may vary based on the weight of dishes. The shop will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

MacQue’s BBQ

MacQue’s BBQ, 8517 Elk Grove Blvd. in Elk Grove, is offering a turkey feast starting at $120 for four to six people. The restaurant is taking pre-orders until Nov. 23. There was no listed date for pre-ordering or pickup.

Bennett’s Restaurants

Bennett’s has to-go meals at its three Sacramento-area locations that feed 10 to 12 people for $269. In addition to a 12- to 14-pound pre-roasted turkey with sage dressing and turkey gravy, you get scalloped potatoes, a dozen dinner rolls, candied sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce and a pumpkin pie with fresh whipped cream. The restaurant chain only accepts pre-orders, but did not list a deadline on its website. Pickup is on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Il Fornaio

Il Fornaio, which has locations in Roseville and Sacramento, offers a Thanksgiving “Feast-To-Go” that can be picked up from noon to 9 p.m. on Nov. 27, or on Thanksgiving Day between noon and 3 p.m. Their to-go meals serve up to four people and are $59. Offerings are similar to the restaurant’s dine-in menu with options to add on sides.
