Southwest Airlines is adding daily flights from Sacramento to 2 tropical spots. Here’s when

Craving an island getaway? Southwest Airlines is adding daily flights from Sacramento to two tropical destinations.

Southwest Airlines will launch daily service from Sacramento International Airport to Maui and Kona in Hawaii in the spring, the company confirmed Tuesday, Nov. 19.

The airline already offers daily service to Honolulu, Hawaii.

“Sacramento is a strong performing market for Southwest, both for our unmatched intrastate service in California and connectivity to numerous destinations across our vast network,” Southwest Airlines spokesman Chris Perry wrote in an email to The Sacramento Bee.

In the summer of 2025, Southwest Airlines will surpass 100 departures on peak days at Sacramento, Perry said.

The airline will hit a high of 109 daily departures during June and July 2025, he said.

When are new flights from Sacramento to Hawaii available?

Southwest Airlines will begin offering daily flights from Sacramento to Kahului Airport on the island of Maui and Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole on the island of Hawaii in March 2025.

Although travelers will be able to fly to and from Maui every day at first, the flights will be available “weekends only in April and May before bumping back up to daily again in June and July,” Perry explained.

News of the new Hawaiian flights comes less than three months after Southwest Airlines announced it would offer new nonstop service between Sacramento and Tucson International Airport.

Direct flights to the Arizona city begin March 8, The Bee previously reported.

Southwest Airlines adds daily service to Baltimore, Orlando

Those aren’t the only new opportunities for air travelers in the Sacramento area.

Southwest Airlines will begin offering daily red-eye service from Sacramento to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in Maryland in March, Perry said.

Overnight flights from Sacramento to Florida’s Orlando International Airport will begin in June, he added.

Southwest Airlines is currently accepting air reservations through Aug. 4, 2025.
