Seven children were taken to the hospital as a precaution Tuesday morning after their school bus crashed into a car at a Yuba City intersection, California Highway Patrol officers said.

The injuries aboard the Yuba City Unified School District bus were minor, said CHP officials.

The 7:52 a.m. wreck happened at South Walton Avenue and Cherry Street when the bus’ driver rear-ended an SUV as its driver turned left onto Cherry from South Walton, officials from the CHP’s Yuba-Sutter office said. The force of the collision sent the SUV into a second car, according to the CHP, but no one in the SUV or the second car was hurt.

The roadway was closed for more than an hour while the wreckage was cleared.
