The armed man fatally shot last week in a standoff with Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies in Carmichael has been identified.

Sacramento County Coroner’s officials identified the man as Israel David Price, 24, of Carmichael. Deputies shot and killed Price atop a nearby home about 3:40 a.m. Nov. 13, hours after an argument with his roommates at their Carmichael apartment. Price fired at deputies from the rooftop before three sheriff’s tactical deputies returned fire, killing the man, officials said.

The deputies were placed on administrative leave after the fatal shooting while the Sacramento County Sheriff’s and Sacramento County District Attorney’s offices investigate the incident.

Neighbors who heard gunshots inside the apartment in the 6600 block of Moraga Way about 11:40 p.m., Nov. 12, called deputies to the scene. No one was hurt, but Price, armed with a revolver, was on the run.

Sheriff’s officials said deputies found Price a short time later but he fled before they could take him into custody.

The search for Price entered the early morning hours with Sacramento County deputies soon joined by a sheriff’s tactical team and law enforcement from Citrus Heights, Roseville and Placer County. By 2:40 a.m., they spotted the armed Price once again on the roof of a home in the 6800 block of Ashfield Way near Hillhurst Drive.

Deputies aboard armored vehicles surrounded the home and negotiators tried to coax Price from the roof before Price turned his gun on deputies, sheriff’s officials said.
