Holiday shopping? This Sacramento shop is among top 10 spots for gifts in US, Yelp says

Looking for last-minute gift ideas? A Sacramento store is among the top 10 spots in the nation to shop for presents, according to Yelp.

The popular review site recently ranked the top 50 shops across the United States to find a gift this holiday season, including “gourmet chocolates, one-of-a-kind textiles, unique books and so much more.”

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year to support local businesses,” Yelp said.

Yelp based its list on reviews by the top-tier site users known as Yelp Elites.

Why is Sacramento store one of top spots to buy a gift?

Strapping, 3405 Broadway in Sacramento, was No. 9 on Yelp’s list of the top 50 shops to pick up a holiday gift.

The store advertises itself as selling “rad gifts for rad people”

In addition to its flagship store in the Oak Park neighborhood, which opened in 2017, Strapping has brick-and-mortar locations in 1731 L St. in midtown Sacramento and 1715 R St., Suite 150, in Sacramento’s Ice Blocks retail center.

In May, business owner Susan Stewart opened Licked ice cream shop on Broadway in the former location of Conscious Creamery, The Sacramento Bee previously reported.

Strapping enjoys an average rating of 4.9 stars on Yelp, with reviewers praising its “super friendly” staff, “extremely reasonable” prices and “amazing” selection of goods by local creators.

In her five-star review, Yelp reviewer Zoena H. of Sacramento called Strapping a “treasure trove of quirky delights!”

“This little gem is bursting with gift ideas that’ll make you wonder how you ever lived without avocado erasers or crazy socks,” she wrote.

In a Nov. 10 Instagram post, store representatives thanked fans for helping Strapping land on Yelp’s gift shopping list.

“We appreciate this win so much,” the post read.

Which other California stores made the list?

A total of five California stores landed on Yelp’s list of the best places to shop for holiday presents.

Los Angeles gift shop Soap Plant / Wacko came in fourth place, while Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena took the No. 7 spot.

Pigment, a home goods store in San Diego, was No. 12 on the list and Beverly Hills sweet shop andSons Chocolates was No. 14.

These were the top 10 spots to find holiday gifts, according to Yelp Elite reviewers:

How did Yelp come up with its rankings?

To come with an “all-time list of the top holiday shops” in the nation, Yelp said it identified businesses in the shopping and gifts category.

The website then ranked those spots based on the volume and ratings of reviews given by Yelp Elite Squad members for each business.

All businesses on the list were marked as open on Yelp as of Oct. 1, and, when available, had passing health scores.
