Ringing in the new year in Sacramento? Here’s what the weather will be like

Whether you’re staying home for New Year’s Eve or going out to your favorite bar or nightclub, you might be wondering what the weather will hold.

National Weather Service meteorologist Sara Purdue said New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day should be “fairly dry” and cool.

High temperatures on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, will be the low to mid-50s, Purdue said, while low temperatures will be in the high 30s.

What’s in the forecast for Sacramento on New Year’s Eve?

The National Weather Service seven-day forecast for the Sacramento-area shows that there will be some areas of frost before 9 a.m. Tuesday, New Year’s Eve.

Otherwise, it will be a sunny day, with a high temperature near 52 degrees and winds of 3 to 5 mph.

What will the weather be like at night as celebrations and countdowns draw near?

Tuesday night will be mostly cloudy with calm winds and a low temperature around 38 degrees.

What will the weather be like on New Year’s Day?

The new year will kick off with sunshine and calm winds, the weather service said.

According to the forecast, Wednesday, New Year’s Day, will be partly sunny with a high near 53.

Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy.

The temperature will drop to a low around 42 degrees.

Will Sacramento see any rain in early 2025?

Sacramento will see some rain following the first day of 2025, followed by a string of sunny days.

Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high near 57 and an overnight low around 43.

On Friday, there is a chance of rain before 10 p.m., the forecast said.

Expect mostly cloudy skies and a high near 57.

There’s also a chance of showers after 10 p.m. Friday, when the low dips to around 44.

What about the weekend?

Saturday will be partly sunny with a high near 56, the weather agency forecast predicts.

Saturday night will be mostly cloudy with a low around 41.

More sunshine is expected Sunday, along with a high near 56.
