Several stores across the Sacramento area are closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day while other retailers are observing special holiday hours.

When are Sacramento grocery stores open on New Year’s Eve?

Here’s when local supermarkets will be open on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day — Tuesday, Dec. 31, and Wednesday, Jan. 1 — and which ones will close on the holidays:

Costco: Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve; closed on New Year’s Day.

Nugget Market: Open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve; open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. New Year’s Day.

Raley’s/Bel Air: Open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Safeway: Open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. New Year’s Eve; open 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. New Year’s Day.

Sam’s Club: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve; closed on New Year’s Day.

Save Mart: Open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. New Year’s Eve; open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. New Year’s Day.

Which pharmacies are open on New Year’s Day?

Here are the operating hours for local pharmacies on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day:

CVS: Store open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. New Year’s Eve; pharmacy to open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Store open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. New Year’s Day; pharmacy open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Select locations open 24 hours.

Rite Aid: Store and pharmacy open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. New Year’s Eve. Store open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on New Year’s Day; pharmacy closed.

Walgreens: Store open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. New Year’s Eve; pharmacy open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Store open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. New Year’s Day; pharmacy closed.

Walmart: Store open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day; pharmacy open 9 a.m. to 7 pm.

Are malls open in the Sacramento area?

While two Sacramento-area malls will observe the same operating hours on New Year’s Eve, open hours differ on New Year’s Day.

Arden Fair 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Westfield Galleria at Roseville will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

What about banks? Post offices?

Government offices such as the U.S. Postal Service and public libraries will be closed on New Year’s Day, as well as most banks.

Package delivery services FedEx and UPS will also be closed for the holiday.
