Roadway fatality

An 87-year-old Sacramento man died in a two-car collision near Sacramento International Airport early Thursday, the California Highway Patrol said.

The fatal wreck happened about 1 a.m. near the Airport Boulevard offramp of Interstate 5. The CHP’s North Sacramento office said the driver of a Ford F-150 truck collided with a GMC Yukon SUV driven by the Sacramento man before the truck swerved through a chain link fence.

Sacramento Fire Department responders pronounced the Sacramento man dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending notification of family by coroner’s officials.

The driver of the Ford truck, a 32-year-old man from Yuba City, was not hurt in the crash.
