One dead, four injured in major crash involving 13 motorcycles on Highway 50 in Sacramento
One motorist died and four others were injured Sunday morning in a major crash involving a car and 13 motorcycles on Highway 50 in East Sacramento, the California Highway Patrol said.
Officer Mark Leavitt, a spokesperson for the CHP South Sacramento office, said a car crashed into the group of motorcycles near the offramp to Stockton Boulevard. Leavitt said the crash did not appear to be intentional.
Five people were transported to hospitals, including one who was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The crash blocked several lanes of traffic and caused traffic to slow to a crawl on westbound Highway 50, according to CHP.
All lanes reopened by 12:15 p.m., according to Caltrans.
