Motorist dies, 2 injured in 3-car crash on Jackson Road, Sacramento CHP officials say
A motorist was killed and two other drivers were injured in a three-car collision Monday night along Jackson Road near Rancho Murieta in eastern Sacramento County.
The deadly crash happened just before 7 p.m., on Highway 16 and Ione Road, said Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials. Metro Fire crews were called to the wreck at 6:49 p.m., said a Metro Fire spokesman.
California Highway Patrol officials say a woman driving a Toyota sport utility vehicle north on Ione Road just south of Jackson Road stopped at the stop sign before turning left and into the path of a man driving a Buick Encore traveling west on Jackson Road approaching Ione Road.
The Toyota and Buick collided in the intersection of Jackson and Ione roads causing the driver of the Buick to veer into the eastbound lane of Jackson Road and collide head-on into a Ford F-150 truck, according to CHP officials.
The driver of the Buick, identified as a man, was killed in the crash. The driver has not been identified pending notification of family members by The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
The woman behind the wheel of the Ford received major injuries in the wreck and was taken to a hospital. The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, CHP officials said. Neither drugs nor alcohol were considered factors in the collision.
