Local clothing store chain is closing Sacramento-area location. When is the last day?
A local clothing store chain is closing its Fair Oaks location this weekend, and you can save big during the location’s final week.
FreeStyle Clothing Exchange will be closing its store at 5271 Sunrise Blvd. on Sunday, Jan. 26, according to the company’s website.
The company announced in a September Instagram post that the Fair Oaks location would no longer be accepting new clothes, but it made no mention of the closure.
In December 2023, JLL Capital Markets announced it closed a $44.3 million dollar sale of Quail Pointe, the shopping center that houses FreeStyle’s Fair Oaks storefront.
FreeStyle Clothing Exchange had not returned a request for comment from The Sacramento Bee as of Tuesday afternoon.
What is FreeStyle Clothing Exchange?
FreeStyle Clothing Exchange opened its first location in Citrus Heights in 2007, online newspaper Sacramento Press previously reported. That location has since closed.
FreeStyle Clothing Exchange is a “buy-sell-trade” clothing exchange store, meaning customers can sell new or gently used clothes to the shop in exchange for cash or store credit.
The shop then resell the items in-store.
Brands carried by the store include Free People, Madewell, Lululemon, Urban Outfitters and The North Face.
The shop’s website has recommendations for certain clothing styles and trendy brands that shoppers are more likely to purchase, including mini skirts, moto boots and plus-sized clothing.
When will Sacramento-area clothing store close?
The last day FreeStyle Clothing Exchange’s Fair Oaks location will be open for shopping is Saturday, Jan. 25, the company confirmed in a comment on a Jan. 15 Instagram post.
Is anything on sale at Fair Oaks shop?
Everything in the shop is 75% off as the closing date nears, according to the post on the company’s Instagram page, which had 26,500 followers as of Tuesday afternoon.
Where are store locations in Northern California?
Including the Fair Oaks location, FreeStyle Clothing Exchange has four stores open in the Sacramento area, including locations at:
- 1906 L St. in Sacramento
- 1107 Roseville Square in Roseville
- 850 East Bidwell St., Suite 140, in Folsom.
The chain also has stores in Santa Cruz and Reno, Nevada.
With the exception of the Fair Oaks store, FreeStyle locations are open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
There are no plans to close FreeStyle’s other locations in California and Nevada.
