Woman dead, child hospitalized after vehicle strikes curb and tree in Natomas area
One woman is dead and a child has been hospitalized after a vehicle collided with a curb and a tree in Sacramento’s Natomas area Friday evening.
Sacramento police responded to the scene near Arena Boulevard and Stemmler Drive in the Gateway West neighborhood shortly before 8:30 p.m. Friday and found three occupants in the vehicle — a female adult driver, a female adult passenger and a juvenile in the back seat, according to Sacramento Police Department spokesperson Officer Anthony Gamble.
Emergency responders took the juvenile to the hospital for treatment of injuries, where the child is listed in stable condition, Gamble said. The driver accompanied the child.
“Sadly, the female adult passenger did succumb to her injuries from this collision and was pronounced deceased on scene,” Gamble said in a statement.
Gamble said detectives from the department’s major collision investigation unit and crime scene investigators have taken over the investigation, but that “preliminarily, it appears speed was a factor in this collision.”
Police are encouraging anyone who witnessed the collision to call the dispatch center at 916-808-5471 or contact Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.
