St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner.
The Sacramento area is hosting several events in celebration of the Irish-American holiday, many of them in the weekend leading up to Monday, March 17.
Here are a few fun, festive ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in and around Sacramento:
Things to do in Sacramento for St. Patrick’s Day
Whether you’re looking for family-friendly fun or a night out with friends, you’ll find something to do from this list.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival at Old Sacramento Waterfront
Sacramento’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival, will return on Saturday, March 15.
The parade officially starts at 12:30 p.m., with performances starting at 11:30 a.m.
The waterfront is hosting other events during March as part of St. Patrick’s Day festivities, including a leprechaun hunt and a Irish food festival.
Leprechaun Hunt
Leprechauns are hidden throughout Old Sacramento for you to find. If you spot the green-clad tricksters, you can win prizes.
When you find a leprechaun, you must write the secret word it corresponds with on the activity pages provided by Old Sacramento in order to move on to the next leprechaun.
Once you find all the leprechauns, you’ll have to solve a riddle to enter a drawing to earn a $50 gift card to Bear & Crown restaurant and pub.
There’s also a bonus riddle you can solve to get a chance to win four tickets to Underground Minigolf in Old Sacramento.
The Leprechaun Hunt began on March 1 and runs through Monday, March 17.
Taste of Ireland
As part of the Taste of Ireland Irish food festival, Old Sacramento eateries will offer a variety of special treats and Irish-inspired meals through Monday, March 31.
More than a dozen different restaurants around the waterfront are serving up everything from corned beef and cabbage to pints of Guinness beer and Irish coffee.
Sacramento St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl and Block Party
The party starts at Henry’s Lounge, 2019 O St., on Saturday, March 15, at 1 p.m.
You can pick up drink coupons, a map of bars and a crawl lanyard to sample sips at more than 15 midtown Sacramento establishments.

In addition to a pre-party event, you can visit all the participating bars and enjoy a post-crawl after-party, with free drinks and other goodies throughout the night.
All attendees must be at least 21 or older to participate.
Shamrock’n Run
Shamrock’n is hosting a two-day race that includes a kids’ fun run and half-marathon.
The half-mile Kids’ Leprechaun Dash, in which little ones chase after a leprechaun, starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 15, with the 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer runs kicking off later in the morning.
The 13.1-mile race starts at 7:35 a.m. on Sunday, March 16.
All the races start at the Fleet Feet store at 2311 J St.
As of Wednesday, registration for the half-marathon and Kids’ Leprechaun Dash were sold out, but you can still sign up to run the 5K or 10K events.
If you’re looking to participate in 2026, registration opens Monday, March 17, according to the Shamrock’n website.
St. Patrick’s Day at Fairytale Town
Looking for something the kiddos will love?
Fairytale Town in William Land Regional Park, 3901 Land Park Drive in Sacramento, will host a fun festival for St. Patrick’s Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, March 17.
The free event will feature crafts, a scavenger hunt around the park, and a leprechaun hunt.
Park admission is $10 for adults and children age 2 or older. Kids under 1 get in free.
This event is weather-permitting. To ensure the festival is still scheduled, check the Fairytale Town website or call the park at 916-808-5233.
