Itching for a last-minute vacation?

Sacramento International Airport offers several flights to beach towns and ski destinations for less than $200 in March and April — just in time for spring break.

The airport expects to see an increase in plane passengers through the summer, according to Lindsay Myers, spokesperson for the Sacramento County Department of Airports.

“March kicks off a busy travel season for families and Sacramento International Airport is expecting high volumes of travelers,” the county Department of Airports said in a March 13 news release. “To ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey, SMF is asking travelers to plan ahead and give themselves plenty of time to start their travels on a positive note.”

Here’s where you can fly from Sacramento for cheap this spring:

Where can I fly direct from Sacramento in 2025?

Sacramento International Airport offers more than 155 daily direct flights on 12 airlines to 36 destinations in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Those include cities with access to sunny beaches or snowy mountains.

That means travelers flying out of Sacramento can easily access some of the cities cited by U.S. News and World Report as top destinations for spring break vacations and ski vacations.

They include:

  • Miami Beach, Florida
  • Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
  • Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
  • Whistler, British Columbia, Canada

How busy will Sacramento airport be in March?

During the month of March, roughly 580,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport, Myers wrote in an email to The Bee.

To accommodate the rush, airlines serving Sacramento International Airport have increased their service capacity in March by 21% compared to March 2024, Myers said.

This included adding new flights and switching to larger aircraft, according to Myers.

  • Elk Grove Unified School District: March 17 through March 21
