3 new flights are landing at Sacramento airport soon. How much are plane tickets?
Ready to explore somewhere new? Southwest Airlines is offering three new flights departing from Sacramento in March.
The airline is adding direct daily service from Sacramento International Airport to Baltimore, according to a news release from the airport.
In addition, Southwest Airlines will begin flying nonstop from Sacramento to Tucson, Arizona, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, according to Lindsay Myers, a spokesperson for the Sacramento airport, said in an email to The Bee.
Southwest Airlines is also offering more frequent flights to Orlando, Florida, and Los Cabos, Mexico, Myers wrote in an email to The Sacramento Bee.
How much does it cost to fly to Baltimore from Sacramento?
Southwest Airlines launched a daily red-eye flight between Sacramento and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport on Thursday.
The direct flight takes off at 9:55 p.m. nightly and arrives in Baltimore at 5:50 a.m., according to the Southwest Airlines reservation webpage.
One-way tickets on the Southwest Airlines website start as low as $170.
As of Friday, Southwest Airlines was accepting reservations through Nov. 1, according to the airline’s website.
When can I fly to Tucson on Southwest Airlines?
Nonstop flights to Tucson, Arizona, on Southwest Airlines start on Saturday, March 8.
Service from Sacramento to Tucson International Airport will be available on weekends.
Flights on Saturday take off at 9:45 a.m. and Sunday trips leave at 4:30 p.m., Myers said.
According to the Southwest Airlines website, flight tickets to the Arizona city start as low as $109 one-way.
Myers said that the Tucson route will be available through Nov. 1 but it was unclear as of Friday whether it will continue operating after that date.
Where do direct flights to Mexico go?
If you’re looking to stamp your passport, Southwest Airlines is adding flights to two destinations in Mexico.
A direct flight between Sacramento and Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, will begin operating on Saturday, March 8.
The seasonal route is running on Saturdays through Saturday, Aug. 2, Myers said.
Flights take off at 8:25 a.m., but will move to 9:25 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, according to Myers.
According to the airline’s website, one-way tickets to the coastal Jalisco city start at $202.
Southwest Airlines is planning on increasing the frequency of its flights from Sacramento to San José del Cabo International Airport in Los Cabos, Mexico.
Flights to Los Cabos recently increased from once per week — on Saturdays — to five times weekly, Thursday through Monday.
The new schedule is scheduled to last “indefinitely,” Myers said.

- Monday, Thursday ad Friday: 7:50 a.m.
- Saturday: 6:30 a.m.
- Sunday: 8:30 a.m.

Is there new nonstop service to Orlando?
If you’re planning a trip to Florida, you’ll have more options with Southwest Airlines starting in April.
The airline is gradually adding flights to its Orlando route through June 1, according to Myers.
As of Friday, flights were available on Saturdays at 7:15 a.m., Myers said.
That will increase to four times weekly — Thursday through Sunday — on April 10.
On June 1, you will be able to fly from Sacramento to Orlando International Airport every day, Myers said.
The Southwest Airlines websites has one-way nonstop tickets to Orlando starting at $149.
