Bicyclist killed in crash with tractor on rural road near Woodland, CHP says

Roadway fatality

A bicyclist was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by a tractor along a rural road outside Woodland, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash occurred about 8:17 a.m. on County Road 29, west of Highway 113, according to CHP’s Woodland office. Emergency personnel pronounced the cyclist, a Woodland man in his 50s, dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor, a man in his 60s also from Woodland, was not injured, authorities said.

Investigators determined the tractor was headed east on County Road 29 in the same direction as the cyclist, who was riding in a bike lane. The driver did not see the bicyclist and struck him, officers said.

Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the crash, but CHP officials said the investigation was ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the CHP’s Woodland office at 530-702-6250.
