Authorities suspect a driver was under the influence when they collided with a motorcyclist Sunday evening outside an apartment complex in Rancho Cordova, killing the rider.
The crash happened just after 6 p.m. at the driveway of the Chesapeake Commons apartment complex on the 3600 block of Data Drive near International Drive, according to the Rancho Cordova Police Department and the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
First responders found the motorcyclist unresponsive at the scene, Metro Fire said. CPR was initiated before paramedics transported the rider to a hospital with critical injuries. Authorities confirmed the motorcyclist was later pronounced dead.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the rider as Roman Kuzminskiy, 32, of Sacramento.
The driver of the Nissan Altima involved in the crash suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, firefighters said. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, which provides police services in Rancho Cordova, reported that the driver was expected to be arrested on suspicion of DUI once released from medical care.
