Sacramento police investigate woman’s Oak Park apartment death as a homicide

A woman found dead in Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood Monday evening was the victim of a homicide, according to Sacramento police.

City firefighters responded at about 7 p.m. Monday and were first to find the body in an apartment in the 3300 block of W Street, Sacramento Police Department said in a news release Tuesday. Police called homicide and crime scene investigators to the scene.

“Based on the information we have at this time, our investigators believe the woman died of a homicide,” Officer Anthony Gamble, a department spokesperson, said in the statement.

Police are seeking the public’s help as they continue their investigation, asking anyone with information to call dispatchers at 916-808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.

Sacramento police did not release suspect information. Sacramento County Coroner’s officials have not released the woman’s name, pending notification of family members.
