Man arrested in fatal Citrus Heights stabbing. Victim had restraining order
Officers arrested a Sacramento man on suspicion of homicide in the stabbing death of a woman who was brought wounded Thursday morning to a fire station in Citrus Heights.
Investigators believe the woman’s death was result of domestic violence, and she had recently obtained a court-issued restraining order against the man accused of killing her, authorities said.
Officers identified Kyron Jamar Mason, 30, as the suspect in the deadly stabbing and arrested him later in the day at the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he turned himself in, the Citrus Heights Police Department announced in a news release.
The stabbing victim, identified by coroner’s officials as Alexis Ashanti McGill, 28, and Mason had been in a dating relationship. Police said the woman had recently been granted a restraining order to protect her from Mason.
On Thursday, Mason showed up at her place of work. Police said Mason then violently stabbed her multiple times while inside a vehicle outside her workplace. McGill’s relatives drove her to a local fire station for medical aid.
They arrived with the wounded woman about 10:15 a.m. Thursday at Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District’s Station 21 on Greenback Lane. Medics at the fire station provided immediate medical and took her by ambulance to a hospital, said Capt. Mark Nunez, a Metro Fire spokesperson.
McGill died at the hospital from her stab wounds, according to the Police Department.
Police said Mason had several previous domestic violence arrests in Sacramento County with other victims, and he’s had other restraining orders filed against him to protect other victims.
Investigators asked anyone with relevant information in the homicide case to call the Police Department tip line at 916-727-5524 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.
