New 177-unit hotel opens near Cal Expo in Sacramento for extended stays

A new hotel with 177 upscale apartment-style units has opened near Cal Expo in Sacramento, commercial real estate investment firm PEG recently announced.

Mariott’s Residence Inn Sacramento Cal Expo, 550 Leisure Lane in Sacramento, will cater to people seeking longer stays.

“We are thrilled to officially open the doors to this incredible new (Residence Inn),” Loren Berkley, PEG managing director of hospitality, said in a news release.

In October, PEG sold Marriott’s original Residence Inn Sacramento property, located a mile away from the new hotel.

Buyers plan to convert the older building into affordable housing units, according to PEG.

The approach is part of PEG’s “net neutral” strategy, which involves replacing older real estate inventory with new, modern properties in the extended-stay market, according to a company representative.=
