A firefighter suffered minor burns Thursday morning while battling a vegetation fire that scorched 50 acres near Sacramento International Airport.

The two-alarm fire ignited around 10 a.m. in dry grass along the 7600 block of Metro Air Parkway, according to the Sacramento Fire Department. The injured firefighter was reported to be in stable condition after suffering burns to his leg, Fire Department spokesman Capt. Justin Sylvia said.

Winds quickly accelerated the fire’s spread but, by 11:30 a.m., firefighters completed a containment line around the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
