Sacramento Mexican restaurant to reopen after monthslong closure. Here’s when
A Sacramento Mexican restaurant is opening its doors after a monthslong closure, the business recently announced.
“We have some amazing news,” representatives for La Sabrocita Tacos wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday, July 9. “We are reopening.”
Here’s what to know:
Where is Sacramento Mexican restaurant?
La Sabrocita Tacos is at 5015 Stockton Blvd. in the Tirapelli Plaza shopping center in South Sacramento’s Fruitridge Manor neighborhood.
The restaurant also operates a food truck and offers catering services.
As of Thursday, July 10, La Sabrocita had an average Yelp rating of 2.9 stars, with reviewers praising its “tasty food.”
“Absolutely love this little hidden gem!” Yelp reviewer Frankie J. of Sacramento wrote in July 2024, calling the restaurant’s offerings “absolutely delicious.”
Why did local taqueria close?
In February, La Sabrocita closed its doors after four years in business, citing a lack of security and homeless encampments at Tirapelli Plaza, the Sacramento Business Journal reported at the time.
“We wish the best of luck to everyone who will continue doing business here at the plaza but we just can’t do it no more,” the business said in an Instagram post that’s since been deleted.
“While we enjoyed a loyal customer base and positive feedback regarding our food, the challenges of operating in that specific area proved insurmountable,” restaurant owner Lorena Sanchez Gamez told the Sacramento Business Journal in February. “These challenges included, but were not limited to, the complexities of managing a first business, including financial aspects such as tax obligations and personnel management.”
Since then, Gamez told the Business Journal, Tirapelli Plaza has undergone improvements — repairing the restaurant’s air conditioning unit installing security cameras across the shopping center.
When will La Sabrocita Tacos open?
La Sabrocita will open its doors once more on Saturday, July 12, the restaurant announced via Instagram.
On that day, the restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to the Instagram post.
What’s on the menu for food truck?
The La Sabrocita food truck’s menu features traditional Mexican dishes such as tacos, burritos, nachos and quesadillas, as well as fusion favorites including ramen birria.
