Woman dies in Lodi after her head is trapped in clothing donation box

A woman died Tuesday in Lodi after her head became trapped in a clothes donation box, police said.

Lodi Police Department officers found the woman at 6:09 p.m. Tuesday at North Pacific Avenue and West Elm Street. Her head was lodged in an opening of the deposit container meant for clothes, officials said Wednesday.

Lodi Fire Department personnel were able to free the woman and take her to a hospital where she later died, said Lodi police.

San Joaquin County Coroner’s officials will release the woman’s name after notifying next of kin.

Lodi police continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the department at 209-333-6728.
