Forward progress has been halted on a wildfire that sparked Friday afternoon and has burned through about 117 acres in Amador County, Cal Fire said. An evacuation order was still in effect as of Saturday morning.

The blaze, dubbed the Tiger Fire, was 10% contained as of a 7:10 a.m. update from Cal Fire’s Amador-El Dorado Unit posted on social media.

The Tiger Fire sparked at 12:43 p.m. Friday on Tiger Creek Road in Pioneer, according to the fire agency’s website. The fire near the North Fork of the Mokelumne River — which marks the border between Amador and Calaveras counties — was spreading at a moderate rate, Cal Fire said Friday afternoon in a social media post.

The mandatory evacuations were in place on Tiger Creek Road, Stephanie Way, Black Prince Road East and Black Prince Road.

Cal Fire in the Saturday morning update said more than 400 fire personnel and two firefighters have been battling the Tiger Fire.

An evacuation center has been set up at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road in Jackson. An animal shelter was organized at Laughton Ranch, 90 Clinton Road in Jackson.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
