Elk Grove robbery turns into brawl with gas station employee, police say
Three people were arrested early Wednesday after a robbery at an Elk Grove gas station escalated into a physical altercation and threats of gun violence, police said.
Elk Grove police responded around 1:50 a.m. to a report of a fight at the 800 block of Sheldon Road. Officers said two men, ages 21 and 22, were seen of shoplifting when a store employee confronted them, prompting a fight inside the business.
A 23-year-old woman waiting outside in a white Hummer allegedly threatened to run over employees and said she would return with guns, according to a post by the Elk Grove Police Department on social media.
The three suspects fled in the vehicle but were arrested “within minutes,” said Sgt. Jason Jimenez, a department spokesperson, in confirming their arrests.
The 22 and 21-year-olds are facing felony robbery charges, while the 23-year-old was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats and a driving unlawfully, according to Sacramento County Sheriff Office jail logs.
Each of the three were being held on $50,000 bail and were scheduled for a court appearance Thursday.
